LocalBeam vs. LocalSend
LocalSend is a dedicated app with the same peer-to-peer idea as LocalBeam, but it needs to be installed on every device before you can use it. LocalBeam skips the install entirely and works straight from the browser.
| LocalBeam | LocalSend | |
|---|---|---|
| Platforms | Any device with a browser | Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, Linux |
| Install required | None - runs in the browser | App download required on every device |
| File size limit | No hard limit | No hard limit |
| Where files go | Direct device-to-device | Direct device-to-device |
Which should you use?
Choose LocalSend if you transfer files often between your own devices and don't mind installing an app on each one. Choose LocalBeam for a one-off transfer, or when you're sending to someone else's device where installing an app isn't an option.
